School Council Meeting - 12 oct 2017

St Anthony School Council Meeting - October 12, 201

Thank you all for attending the school council meeting. Note that the next meeting will be on November 8, 2017 at 6pm. Find below a summary of what was discussed on the October meeting.

Principal’s Report

  1. Piano Lessons are being offered at St Anthony. Rebecca Dunk of Little Green Studios spoke at the meeting about the benefits of music education.  She has a BAchelor of Music and is offering piano lessons at St Anthony School during the lunch hour. Contact rebdunkmusic@gmail.com, or inquire at the office.

  2. The school’s new anti bullying program, WITS, was discussed. The program is aimed at helping students to gain conflict resolution skills, and to learn what to do if they are being bothered or bullied.

Items of discussion

  1. NAC - Hack Lab has been booked for the 4,5, and 6 students. Vivaldi is in the works tentatively for grades 1, 2, and 3. We’re looking at an onsite program for the kinders. All programming includes an onsite visit from the NAC ahead of the show to give the students a greater appreciation for the production.

  2. Parents were reminded to sign up for School Cash Online if they haven’t already.

  3. Discussion on tardiness and absents. Tardiness and absenteeism is a problem at this school. How do we motivate families to get their kids to school on time? Ideas?

Halloween Party

Date set for October 26 between 4 pm to 6 pm. The success of the Halloween Party hinges on whether we get enough volunteers. The more help we get the better the party! Please volunteer to help.

Volunteer opportunities
  1. Decorating/Setup. (Students, Ally, Sophie, Sarah)
  2. Cleanup. (Volunteers needed)
  3. Cash/Entry (Natacha, Lucie)

  7. Pumpkin decorating (Sophie)
  8. Face paint (Paula, Shea)
  9. Green Screen Costume Photo ( M. Manchiesi)

Mrs AB has arranged for a student DJ. She’ll bring her own equipment.
Council will provide chips and juice boxes.

Everyone is invited to wear a costume, but no masks nor weapons please.
